Apple Health FAQ
Bring your steps with you.
Little Steps reads step totals from Apple Health, so an iPhone, Apple Watch, Garmin, or another compatible tracker can help unlock moments.
How do I connect Little Steps to Apple Health?
On your loved one’s iPhone, open Little Steps and tap Connect Apple Health. When Apple asks, allow Little Steps to read Steps. Walk data stays under the loved one’s control and Little Steps does not write data to Apple Health.
Does Little Steps work with Apple Watch?
Yes. Pair the Apple Watch with the same iPhone used for Little Steps. Apple Watch activity flows into Apple Health automatically. Then connect Little Steps and allow Steps access.
If steps are missing, open Health → profile picture → Devices → Apple Watch → Privacy Settings and make sure Fitness Tracking is on.
How do I use a Garmin watch?
- Pair the watch with the Garmin Connect app and complete a device sync.
- In Garmin Connect, go to More → Settings → Connected Apps → Apple Health, connect it, and allow Steps.
- Keep Garmin Connect open while syncing. Then check Health → Steps before refreshing Little Steps.
Garmin says Connect sends step data to Apple Health after a successful device sync when sharing is enabled.
What about other watches and fitness trackers?
Install the device maker’s iPhone app, pair and sync the tracker, then enable that app’s Apple Health sharing for Steps. In Apple Health, tap your profile picture, choose Apps, select the device app, and turn on Steps. Not every device or companion app supports Apple Health.
Why is my step count missing or different?
First confirm today’s steps appear in the Apple Health app. Then open Health → Steps → Data Sources & Access to confirm your watch or companion app is listed and placed in the order you prefer. Reopen the device app to sync, then return to Little Steps and refresh.
Is my Health data private?
Little Steps requests read-only access to step counts for progress and moment unlocking. It does not write to Apple Health or use Health data for advertising. You can change access at any time in the Health app.
